Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Mary, the Ever-Virgin and millions of other saints once lived in the flesh like us living today. Like them, we have litanies of ancestors, impossible to count. Despite the failures of their ancestors and their human weaknesses, except for Mary, conceived without the stain of original sin, God called, justified and gloried them, mere men and women, for the convenience of the economy of salvation and the salvation of all humankind.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary along with the saints now enjoying the fullness of God's glory in heaven must inspire confidence in all of us who recognize we are handmaids of the Lord. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God for us and the power of the Holy Spirit at work in us and among us, coupled with our faith, great possibilities await us in heaven if like Mary, her parents and the saints we cooperate with God plan for us.

The celebration of Mary's birthday even after her death and assumption into heaven - celebrates more the miles stones of her contribution and achievement as coinage in the economy of salvation more than just her physical birth. In her Magnificat, she told us the same. All generations will call her blessed because in her God achieved great things. Like Mary we can use our birthday celebrations as milestones of the achievements God is accomplishing us, count our blessing rather than our age. Remember, God destined us for sainthood and the glory of the saints like Mary.

Mary, Mother of God and of all the saints, pray for us.
