Life after Life
FRIDAY: Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Life after Life
Life after death is not a saleable commodity. It is gratis for those who put their trust in him. The fact is, God created us to live eternally with him the next world. In other words, eternity awaits those who internalise the image and likeness of God and fulfil the requirements as sons and daughters as Christ did in humility and obedience.
Humanistic philosophy tries hard as it can to undermine the truth of the divine dimension of the human person. The resurrection of Christ Jesus, Lazarus, the appearance of Moses and Elijah during the Transfiguration of Christ, the doctrine on the Eucharist and the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary prove otherwise. They confirm there is life after death. The conclusion of the Nicene and Apostles Creed teach us to say, "I believe in the resurrection of the death and the life of the world to come." The resurrection from the dead is fundamental to our fidelity to God. Otherwise, human life would be purposeless.
The flesh is not all that matters in this life. The values of the human soul transcend beauty, wealth, power, power and fame. Let us then forget the quibbles over the mundane of this world, the flesh and like Christ Jesus feed ourselves on the will of God and the Holy Eucharist until we all become embodied beatitudes and we will participate in the resurrection of the dead with Christ at the appointed time.
Lord, I live today in the shadow of your wings, love and will that I may share eternity with you in heaven.
